Follow Friday / Book Blogger Hop (15)

Hey everyone, how's Friday for all of you? Mine's not so good... hope you're having a better day than I am.

The question for this week is: What is your usual monthly book budget?

Usually its around 1,500 pesos if I can spare some money. Or something around $30 (sometimes less) but I don't usually buy all the books I want at once. I buy 2 this week and then I'll buy 2 the next week or so, which makes me feel like I'm spending less since I didn't use up all of it at once. :)

Book Blogger Hop

The question for this week: If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?

That depends. If I think the book can technically be a stand-alone read even though its a part of the series, I'll read that especially if I'm not sure if I will really like it. Though most of the time I tend to start with the first title just so I don't miss out on anything that I might need to know so I can understand the whole thing. Like in The Iron Fey series. Even though I'm dying to read The Iron Queen, I ABSOLUTELY have to read the other two books first!

This week is pretty slow for our blog, if you like check out these posts:

Cover Reveal featuring Wolfsbane, Between the Sea and Sky, Small Town Sinners, The Day Before and Abandon.
Teaser Tuesday featuring Jennifer DeLucy's Seers of Light
Waiting on Wednesday featuring Starcrosses and Falling for Hamlet

We have one review up for Susane Colasanti's When It Happens. Find out why my friend, Tin, didn't like the book that much.

Also, today is the last day to enter our Jenny Pox e-book GIVEAWAY!

  1. Hello Kai! Don't worry, you're not spending too much. Last month, I spent about $120 two months ago. I'm a new follower and I look forward to reading more in your blog:)

  3. Hi there! I just started following this week, and I always enoy your posts! I've been trying to keep my book buying budget down lately, so I've been doing everything I can to get cheap books - borrow from the library, use interlibrary loans, but inevitably, I end up buying a book every week or every other week (and always hardbacks too, because I always want to read the newest thing!).

  7. Hey! I'm an old follower just stopping by on the hop to wish you a great weekend!

My monthly book budget is under $100. But I know what you mean about buying a few here and there and not realizing it.

  8. Yes! I hate blowing all the money I have in one week. In the past I haven't really had a budget, but I think for the rest of November and December, I'm just going to buy the books I'm REALLY looking forward to - like Anna and Balefire and a few others. Old follower - have a great weekend!

If you get a chance, check out my blog :)

  12. I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
    doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

  13. Hi there Kai! <3 Just hoppin' on by. <3 I'm an old follower/lover, as you know! :D

My book budget is $0! I'm a poor college student, so I only borrow books from the library or read in Barnes and Noble while hogging their air conditioning. :)

I can't read books mid-series. It just doesn't work that way for me. I MUST start at book 1.

I love getting comments from my readers and fellow bookworms, and I try my best to respond to all of them. Feel free to give me a piece of your thoughts. Also, this is an award-free blog. I simply don't have the time to highlight them anymore, but thank you for thinking of my blog!
